According to Doug Berven, vice president of corporate affairs, “Poet will build a solar field next to our Sioux Falls headquarters that will provide about two-thirds of our electricity annually.”

Construction on the project begins this month and includes six rows of solar panels and will generate 745,000 kilowatts of electricity while offsetting 630,000 pounds of carbon dioxide. Completion is planned for August.

Berven goes on to explain that by entering the solar business, POET intends to build solar parks around their biorefineries and provide design and construction to other companies.
